The above images are a selection of work by the talented illustrator Neil Stevens a.k.a Crayons on Fire. Any work with birds on is an automatic love in my eyes but to discover he did a cover for Seabear (a band which I really like) was bit of an unexpected bonus.

Claire Nicholson
A super project by Claire Nicholson! It would be really lovely to see something like this in Homebase.
'Homebase-Grow Your Own: A range of gardening product packaging aimed at 18-30 year old gardening novices. The idea was to create simple, easy to follow packaging to encourage a younger audience to take an interest in growing their own produce. I introduced a step by step approach to the range, created a new logo and developed a series of illustrated instructions. The ‘steps’ featured in the instructions correlate with product packs containing the necessary equipment for each growing stage. The instructions consisted of easy to understand language, free of jargon and unnecessary information.'

The Hungry Workshop
I've spent the last 10 minutes or so drooling over the work of The Hungry Workshop. Not only do they create gorgeous letterpress prints they also show you the presses used and the process. <3
'We love all things sweet for Valentine’s Day (almost as much as a fat kid loves cake). The floral woodcut illustration and vintage styled sans serif typography is offset by your sweet, silly or serious handwritten message. Our favourite combinations: peanut butter loves jelly, cheese loves macaroni, a bee loves honey, meat pie loves sauce, a monkey loves bananas, Mario loves Luigi (though apparently this is incorrect, according to our resident video game nerd) and the list goes on.'

Rich Gemmell
This lovely piece of work by Rich Gemmell is part of series of images based on the Scottish Landscape. The 'character' on top of the mountain sort of reminds me of the statue of Christ over looking Rio De Janeiro. Pop over to his web site to view the others and in more detail.

Good Fucking Design Advice
I discovered this little web site (good fucking design advice) over on twitter this afternoon and it made me chuckle but it actually has some good advice despite the over use of the word 'fucking'.

The Republic Tigers EP
This is the work of Tad Carpenter. This Ep of The Republic Tigers and has a 3 color silkscreen on each side, includes a polaroid of each band member and only 1200 were made. I love the fact that most of Tad Carpenters work carries a screen printed feel or is actually screen printed. Something I really want to learn but I have no idea where to start at the moment. Anyway, pop over to Tad's web site and check out the rest of the work!

Are you a comic sans criminal?
Comic sans criminal, the internet sensation by Matt Dempsey. Although this was back in december I have only just managed to get through my blog list to reach it. Even though its a few months late its most
definitely still worth talking about. Its a fab website be sure to spare a few minutes to check it out.
'Comic Sans Criminal is a personal project spawned from my annoyance at society's inability to use the font Comic Sans appropriately. The website was designed to be educational and convince a select few to reconsider their use of the font.'
'However, within 48 hours of the site launching over a quarter of a million people had visited. Comic Sans became a 36 hour Twitter trending topic, and it was 'liked' on Facebook over 25 thousand times. Amongst numerous articles and blog posts it was most notably featured on The Huffington Post, Daring Fireball, and was Yahoo's website of the day.'

Ben The Illustrator
I recently discovered the work of Ben The Illustrator. This is the beautiful work he did for 1973 Ltd.
'I spent a good amount of 2010 relishing the opportunity to create 16 beautiful illustrations for 1973ltd to make into a set of greetings cards entitled 'Natural' by Ben the Illustrator. I worked very closely with the client on the creative process, developing a set of cards that would work well all together while each standing alone perfectly.'
