Pointe Blank - Exhibition
Last night was an exciting night! It was the grand opening of the Pointe Blank Exhibition at the Milk Wood Gallery in Cardiff as part of the Cardiff Design Festival. It was here that my piece for their Swan Lake inspired show was finally revealed. Needless to say the other entries into the show were incredible! There was even one or two that I would quite like to put on my wall! I did take lots of other photos of other peoples work but they turned out rather yellow and it would take agggggges to photoshop all of them and there is a ton of other things that I need to do but you can see the other entries over on the Pointe Blank website.
I don't usually do too well at these sort of events because I'm such a shy person and find it difficult to talk to new people. I did meet the lovely people who put on the show though, Claire and Rob. Thankfully my friend Leanne came along too and made it much less awkward (she's good at that). I just never know what to say to people! And then I tend to fidget with my rings on my fingers or my cardigan sleeve! Its so frustrating!
One of the high lights of the night was bumping into my old lecturer from university, Olwen. She's such a jolly character and always great to talk to. Although I absolutely hated telling her that I work on a pepper farm as it makes me feel like such a failure! Never mind though, it was really lovely to see her and have a mini catch up. It actually made me miss uni and living in Cardiff.
You can still go and visit the show if you fancy it! The pieces will be exhibited at the Milkwood Gallery in Cardiff from the evening of 1 October until 8 October 2012, as part of the Cardiff Design Festival. After that they will be on display in one of Birmingham Royal Ballet’s home studios as part of the Eye Candy festival, 12-14 October.
So here it is, the image of the swan that I've been teasing you with and wanging on about for so long!

Wow it's amazing Joanne! And I know what you mean about meeting old friends/teachers and feeling like a failure because you have a naff job! But look at this exhibition! Thats a success right there! x
ReplyDeleteAhh your piece is so stunning.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rebecca :) I'm quite happy doing what I'm doing but then again I'd like to say that I was living somewhere else doing something better. But yes the exhibition was wonderful, it made me so happy :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Kira! :)
Joanne - Olwen is very impressed by you and as she said - you are a very talented, focused, enthusiastic, pro-active designer. DON'T EVER FEEL LIKE A FAILURE! That's an order from Olwen's very bossy friend Suzanne :D
ReplyDeleteHaha thank you very much Suzanne! It was lovely to meet you on monday! :)
ReplyDeletelovely to meet you too. keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't look like failure to me at all. As you shown on a newer post that once again someone has stolen your work.. Stealing is the highest form of flattery I've heard someone saying, it's definitely bad for business but awesome for ego, means you're doing something right.
ReplyDeleteKeep up!
